THE AZTEC CALENDAR:
THE RING OF FLAMES

by Charles William Johnson

Part Seven

ADDENDUM/2

In order to comprehend the significance of the 416c cycle number let us explore its relation to the 624-year value derived from the Ring of Flames.

624 x .416 = 259.584 (close to 260c number)

Now, let us subtract this result from the 624c number itself:

624 - 259.584 = 364.416 (close to 365c number)

One should note immediately that these numbers reflect the 584c and the 416c cycle:

259.584 364.416

The fractions reflect immediately that relationship in their very numbers.

Furthermore, one is seeing the manner in which the reckoning systems of the 260c and the 365c count are encoded and positioned with respect to one another in the Aztec Calendar's design:

THE 260c : 365c RECKONING SYSTEMS
THE 260c : 365c RECKONING SYSTEMS

The actual counter-positioning deals with symbolic, representational numbers: 259.584/364.416 counts. Again, the counter-positioning of the two significant day-count systems falls on the day-glyph of acatl, the thirteenth one on the day-glyph ring.

THE AZTEC CALENDAR: MATH AND DESIGN

In the book The Aztec Calendar: Math and Design, Charles William Johnson examines the possible relationships between mathematics and geometry. The historically significant numbers may reflect progressions which in turn may be translated into geometrical figures and designs. No one knows for certain how the Aztec Calendar may have been read or interpreted. Its simbolic design is striking and has intrigued scholars for centuries. The Aztec Calendar: Math and Design explores the stone's elements and rings in relation to their spatial divisions in an attempt to discern a possible method of computation, using the historically significant numbers of the ancient reckoning system. The book promotes the existence of specific mathematical posits that the geometrical spatial division of the calendar's elements appear to obey.
